Project Self-Sufficiency (PS-S) has been serving Larimer County since 1986. Their mission is to “create opportunities for low-income, single-parent families who are struggling to make ends meet and overcome the cycle of poverty.”
The organization helps families by providing services like parenting classes, self-esteem workshops, one-on-one advisors, and a Cars for Families Program. When Faith learned about Project Self Sufficiency’s car program, they contacted the organization to see if they could use vehicles that had been donated to the church through our Benevolence ministry.
Since first contacting PS-S, Faith has given the organization two mini-vans and a Jeep Cherokee. These gifts of transportation have helped three single moms move closer to the goal of self-sufficiency.
Project Self-Sufficiency also helps single parents by enabling them to earn their college degrees. Through the program, a woman named Ann was able to obtain scholarships so she could attend CSU. She is now two semesters away from completing her degree in environmental engineering. Ann has become an ambassador for PS-S and speaks at different engagements about her success in the program. This summer, she received a mini-van from Faith and wrote this letter:
Without organizations like Project Self-Sufficiency, Faith would not be able to extend the love of Christ to people who may have never experienced it. Faith partners with community organizations who are equipped to take donations and use them to make a lasting impact on the lives of their recipients.
